First Day of Head Start Full-Day!

On January 21st, the Head Start Full-Day classrooms officially opened. The teachers, staff, and students have been waiting for this day to come. It was very exciting to be able start the full-day program.

After School Celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday

On January 20th, scholars from the After School program attended AmeriCorps Project YES!’s 7th Annual Literacy Fair.  The scholars took place in an interactive story with Imagination Theatre. The scholars participated in literacy-related crafts and games. They finished their trip with a visit to the Story Bus!  All of the scholars were able to go home with a bag of books donated from Bernie’s Books and other donators.

Noble Advisory Visits the Sunshines!

January 22, 2014

On January 16th, a Freshman Advisory for Noble Street Charter School visited the Sunshine After School group. The high school students helped the scholars make collages out of images from magazines and markers. It was a wonderful opportunity for each group to learn and grow from the experience with the other.

Banco Popular Art Contest!

January 22, 2014

On November 11th, representatives from Banco Popular held an award ceremony for the scholars in the after school program.  A few weeks prior, the scholars learned about saving money and saving’s accounts.  The representatives gave the scholars coloring books and told them they could submit a picture for the art contest.  The representative from Banco Popular presented gift bags to all the winners from each group!  Thank you so much Banco Popular!
