Ho, ho, ho…Merry Christmas!!!

The Head Start children got into the holiday spirit as they practiced for their annual holiday pageant that will take place on Tuesday December 4th, 2012 in the Vittum Theater at 6:45pm . In addition, children have been preparing for Christmas through arts and crafts projects such as ornaments, snow men, and Christmas trees!


Thanksgiving is on the way!

The Headstart children had fun this week creating hand painted turkey decorations.  Parents will not only be able to see what their children have been busy doing in class this week, they will also get the chance to showcase their child’s artwork at home!


Enchanted Castle at the Settlement!

Friday, October 26th, local families attended the annual Halloween Enchanted Castle event here at the Settlement House. AmeriCorps Project YES! members created an interactive ‘trip around the world’ that led children to decorations and games relating to the jungle, safari, arctic, and desert themes. Children also enjoyed playing Halloween games in Burnside Hall, as well as touring the Haunted House put on by Settlement staff and Noble student volunteers. it was a very fun event and all the little monsters, superheroes, animals, and princesses left with a big smile (and big bag of candy!).


Headstart “good touch, bad touch” lesson with Ms. Kurt

This week both Headstart classrooms were visited by Ms. Kurt and were able to learn the differences between a good touch and bad touch. Kids were taught that it is okay to say no to someone who wants to touch them in an uncomfortable way and to seek help from someone they trust if they find themselves in this situation.
