Frozen Fun at Figo’s!

June 28, 2012

One sunny afternoon, Ms. Ana’s class took a field trip to Figo’s Frozen Yogurt. Ms. Tami, who operated the store, was very pleasant and gave each of them a miniature cone filled with cake batter flavored frozen yogurt! We explained that this was not only a great treat but it is much healthier than regular ice cream. Everyone will be back again soon!

June 25, 2012

On Thursday June 7, 2012, the Northwestern Settlement Head Start Program held their annual  Graduation. A total of 44 graduates crossed the Vittum Theater stage to receive their diploma. It was a beautiful ceremony followed by a bittersweet reception. Friends and family, teachers and staff were able to take the time to say goodbye and reflect on an amazing year. We wish the graduates the best of luck in Kindergarten.

Lincoln Park Zoo!

June 13, 2012

It was a beautiful day at the Lincoln Park Zoo as the Head Start classes explored the many animals in their habitats. There were zebras, giraffes, tigers, lions, gorillas, and even a polar bear! The students were able to explore any area they wanted and throughout the day, just about every animal, as well as every gift shop, was seen by at least one student from the Settlement! It was clear that the students, staff and parents enjoyed themselves on this field trip.
